Madeleine Oakley
Madeleine Oakley is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Mental Health Studies at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King's College London. She previously ran the MSc FamilyTherapy and MSc Mental Health Studies Programme, both at the IoPPN. She is a UKCP registered psychotherapist since 1993, having trained in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy initially, followed by Family Systemic Therapy at the IoPPN in 1994-95. Her clinical experience has been in the NHS, working with children & families, in adolescent eating disorders at the Maudsley Hospital, the voluntary sector, working as a clinical supervisor of counsellors in the field of bereavement, and in infertility counselling at University College Hospital. She has co-authored two interdisciplinary research papers on autism and learning disabilities. She is the parent of a young man with autism and a learning disability and is the Parent & Carer Co-Champion of the Diversity & Inclusion Network at the IoPPN, King’s College London.
