ALFI Project
Associations Between Low Field Imaging, Cognition, Lifestyle And Wellbeing
What is the study about?
The ALFI Study (Associations Between Low Field Imaging, Cognition, Lifestyle And Wellbeing) is an innovative research study exploring how portable, ultra-low-field MRI technology can be used to better understand brain health across diverse communities.
What is involved?
The study uses a new type of ultra low-field Magentic Resonance Imagining scanner - This type of MRI scanner uses lower strength magnets and less electricity than standard MRI scanners, and is small enough to be used outside of hospitals. We want to understand how this new technology could make brain scanning more accessible for everyone.
People taking part in the project will have an ultra low field MRI scan and do some testing of their memory and thinking. They will also complete some questionnaires about their general wellbeing and lifestyle.
The study will be taking place at Canterbury Christ Church University and the project will run from July 2025 to December 2026. It is open to people from all age groups.
